Breakup Recovery: From a Broken Glass to a Beautiful Glass

By Christopher Granger

You have been through this before, you got dumped for someone better (or so they think) and you spend your days listening to sad love songs that you almost believed that song was made just for you. No one can blame you. Everyone knows that a broken arm can toil but never a broken heart. They understand you but they also know that you need to make a breakup recovery – fast!

Remember that you may have made your ex your life and all but other’s life depend on you as well. Move on because life does not end when you stop living your life. The common mistake that you would make is to wallow in self – pity and make everything about yourself. You miss out a great deal of what life has to offer you. Sometimes, a relationship has to end to give way for something better. Your ex might have replaced you with someone better because maybe your ex is not the best for you. How do you move on? How do you get your life back?

• Be honest about your emotions and feelings. Accept that you may have made mistakes and believe that you can be better. Changing yourself does not mean you have to change to how your former flame wanted you to be.

• Think of the reason why the two of you fell out. List the reasons why your ex is not the one for you.

• Allow yourself to cry. Set aside an hour to mourn over a lost love afterwards, wipes your tears, freshen up and do something productive.

• Collect everything your ex has given you. Put them in a box then store them away. Refrain from displaying things that bring back good memories.

• Confront the situation you are in by doing the things you normally do together – alone.

• Reconnect with your friends. Talk to them, their insights, however painful, will help you in your process of breakup recovery. They may have a better view of the situation.

• Do some jogging and exercise. The endorphins will help you feel better. You will look better and this would be your sweet revenge. Make your ex regret dumping you.

• Write your feelings. Be creative. Write poetry, short stories, or even songs. This will keep you pre-occupied and will help you see clearer why the relationship did not work. Keep moving forward, the more you do this, the less it would hurt.

• Meet other people but never enter into a rebound relationship. You might get yourself hurt again.

• Don’t be too hard on yourself. Let go of your fears and open your heart. Be ready to fall in love again.

• Look in the mirror and smile. It will help you take a more positive outlook in life.

No formula can make your breakup recovery happen overnight. May be it had to happen to you. Remember, a glass has to be broken to make a beautiful glass vase.
